Day 27 – Week 4 – 4 mins
Oh – I reeeeaaallly did not want to get up this morning. It was the hardest day so far in terms of convincing myself to do my minutes. Why that was, I have no idea. Was it because it was a Saturday and somewhere at the back of my brain I thought I DESERVED a day off? Am I getting bored with what I’m doing? Do I feel I’m not making progress? I don’t know – can’t explain it. The thing is – I know that if I just do this every day – I will achieve what I want to achieve. And that’s what I told myself, as I was lying there in bed. I just have to do it – each and every day. No excuses.
I have found what works is to do this. Just concentrate on the next thing you have to do, and nothing else. So – when you are lying in bed wishing you could stay there – don’t think “But I have to get up and do my minutes”. Instead, just think – “I am getting up and going to the bathroom”. That’s it. That’s all you have to think. Then when you get to the bathroom you think “I just have to put on my exercise clothes”, and only then do you think about getting on and doing the exercise.
It’s amazing – we are all intelligent human beings who KNOW how essential exercise is, yet to do it consistently is the hardest thing. We really have to play these games with ourselves to do it, because it is oh so easy to just say, “You know what – I reckon I won’t do it today. What difference will it really make if I miss a day.” The easist thing in the world…..and that is what we are fighting, each and every day.
Keep fighting….they tell me that one day it will get easier…

Day 26 – Week 4 – 4 mins
‘Tis Friday night and am very tired to be pottering around on t’internet after a long week in the office. This is not helped by a generous curry and a glass of wine in front of a movie a little earlier on.
Did my four minutes of arm exercises this morning in good spirit, and am sorely tempted by the idea of a lie-in in the morning. But I will no doubt hear the call of the bosu come sun up, and trundle out of a bed like a good and loyal subject.
And in the end I will be pleased that I did. The chain remains unbroken, and I intend on it staying so for as long as possible….

Day 24 – Week 4 – 4 mins
Four minutes with the medicine ball and resistance strap again. It’s all becoming quite routine and find myself getting up and doing it without really thinking too much about it. Best way to be really. You don’t want to think too hard or you’ll talk your way out of it!
Am definitely getting a little bit of definition in my arms, though it will be some time before they are Madonnaesque I should think. And I do believe my legs are feeling stronger. I really put that down to even just a few minutes on the bosu – it seems to work almost instantly.

Day 23 – Week 4 – 4 mins
Four minutes on the bosu this morning, and I think I may have snuck down to 147 pounds. As I have said, my scales aren’t so easy to read, so it’s all a bit approximate – which is probably a good thing. This is not about getting obsessed by weight. I am just fascinated to find out at what point the exercise starts making a difference.
We have a new convert to the oneminute+ system – though with a bit of a variation. Mareike (see her comment on Day 22) is joining us, but instead of doing one minute+ of exercises, she is going to do one pushup+. She’s jumping in to where we are at now and doing four pushups each day, and will add a push up a week until she can do 52. I’m highly impressed and think this is a great way to join in.
Any other takers? Or any other innovative ways to work with us? We’d love to hear from you….

Day 22 – Week 4 – 4 mins
Spent four minutes with the mini medicine ball and the resistance strap this morning, and really felt it in my arms. Just four minutes, but there was a bit of burning in the biceps! And tonight, I can actually feel a little bit of muscle there – that is encouraging.
I’m actually starting to enjoy this!
Each time I add a minute to the routine, I get to decide how I’m going to spend that minute. For inspiration, I have a look around on the internet, on YouTube, and even into some old exercise books I have. That is also part of this system I enjoy. There is no need to try and learn a whole routine at once, you just add one cardio move and one strength move each week, and then it becomes easy to remember.
To be honest – at the moment, all we are doing is adding warm up exercises, as really that is what we are doing. So – nothing too ambitious. Then we’ll add a few minutes of cool down exercises – and THEN, we will start adding the stuff in between that really makes a difference.
Roll on beautiful bodies!!
