Day 264 – Week 38 – 38 mins
Another gorgeous but chilly day, and this time we did make it to the lovely Kew Gardens.
And while my fella warmed up by visiting the ‘Temperate House’ – the largest surviving Victorian glass house in the world, filled with subtropical plants and such things – I warmed up by running around outside the building.
So this week has indeed been much of an improvement on the previous ones. 179 minutes for the week, at an average of 25.57 a day. Compare this to 116 minutes (16.57 mins a day) the week before. Am pretty happy with that…
But back to work tomorrow after a week off….

Day 263 – Week 38 – 38 mins (25)
Does shopping count?
This was the plan. That we would brave the crowds and go to our local shopping centre to pick up a few things in the sales. And then after that, we would go to the gorgeous Kew Gardens to recover, and I could go for my run while we were there.
But of course it didn’t work out that way.
EVERYTHING in London takes about three times as long as you think it will. Even buying jeans.
You need to know that I do not like clothes shopping. I don’t like all the trying on, the changing, the heating being too high, the pushing past people, the being disappointed by your selection, the putting it all back on the rails and starting again.
And if there is anything that can stress me out, it’s trying to find jeans. I was down to one pair, my favourites having fallen apart a few weeks ago, so I really couldn’t put it off any longer. And after trying on about 20 pairs, I managed to pick up a couple I was moderately happy with.
But by this time it was about three o’clock , and there was no chance of getting home and getting to Kew Gardens before it got dark at about 4.30.
Instead – I put on my exercise gear and bopped around the kitchen for 25 minutes while my fella cooked the dinner. It was almost a joint exercise effort as he did a bit of foot tapping and swaying about in encouragement. Standing on the kitchen counter was a glass of wine, just waiting for me when I finished.
A great lesson in incorporating exercise into your daily life!

Day 262 – Week 38 – 38 mins (1)
I have been doing pretty well this week, so I am forgiving myself my paltry one minute today.
To be honest – I forgot!
It was New Year’s morn – so of course there was no way I was getting up early. Don’t think we actually made it to sleep until about 3.00 in the morning, so a good lie-in was definitely in order.
And then – well – one thing led to another, and before I knew it, dinner was about to be served and my wine was poured.
So, I did a quick one minute, and got stuck into the wine.
I have realised that I will very soon be down to my last 100 days of this experiment. And if I want to actually achieve what I set out to do, there is going to have to be a concerted effort to stick to the plan.
Surely I can do a proper effort for just 100 days…

Day 261 – Week 38 – 38 mins
It was a beautiful, crisp morning this morning, so no excuses for not getting out and going for a run.
38 minutes is beginning to feel like a very loooong time to be out running, but I imagine that’s about how long you have to do it for before it really does you any good unfortunately. It’s going to take some will power to do a full 52 minutes though.
I am bracing myself…

Day 260 – Week 38 – 38 mins
I appear to be very fickle when it comes to exercise.
For a while I much preferred the cardio to the strength work – so was managing my full amount of minutes when I got to run about, but couldn’t bring myself to do so when it came to a strength day.
But now, it is the opposite.
Today I was quite happy to do my full quota of strength and stretching, but am dreading getting out and going for a run tomorrow. It’s probably something to do with the rubbish weather, but still, I am surprised at this strange turn of events.
Let’s hope the rain stops and I DO get a chance to run around the park for New Year’s Eve…
