Day 21 – Week 3 – 3 mins

Oh horror of horror – weighed myself for the first time in a week this morning, and have put on a couple of pounds. Am sitting at 148 pounds (67 kgs). This is of course not the direction I was hoping to be going, but not at all surprising considering the week of excess I have just enjoyed.

But, just as I have a little panic about it, I remember that I don’t need to worry, as the whole exercise thing is WELL IN HAND! One minute+ will save the day. I just have to KEEP DOING IT!

So – after a deep breath – I did my 3 mins on the bosu and remembered that all things take time, as long as you do it consistently.

This is the end of week 3. I can’t believe how fast it is going already. 4 minutes tomorrow morn…..

Day 20 – Week 3 – 3 mins

And now, the last morning at the house has finally come, and later today we are on our way back home and gearing up for work again.

It has been a lovely trip, with some of the most amazing scenery you can imagine.

I did my three minutes with the resistance strap, and then packed away the exercise clothes. I am really proud of myself for doing my minutes while I have been here on this trip, because I know that in any normal circumstances I wouldn’t have done it. It is just far too easy to come up with excuses why you shouldn’t do it when you are on holiday. It hardly seems worth it when you are drinking and eating more than usual, you think “I’ll start again when I get home”, or you are just defeated by the practicalities of it all.

But I am living proof it can be done with a timer, a resistance strap and a pair of decent shoes. Even if it is only three minutes, just knowing you have got up and done it, gives you a rush of pride that lasts all day!

I’m quite looking forward to getting back to the bosu when I’m home tomorrow morning.

Day 19 – Week 3 – 3 mins

This morning I had a shock when I got up at 7.30 – someone else was already up! I’ve got used to having the house to myself in the mornings, as everyone else, quite sensibly, has been using this week as an opportunity for a lie-in. But we brought some other friends back with us to the house from the wedding, and one of them is also an early riser. So when I stumbled out into the kitchen to put my shoes on for my three minute jog, he was obviously keen to know what I was up to.

To my immense relief he didn’t laugh about the whole idea, as a few other unkind souls have been doing. He totally understood the psychology of the one goal one minute experiment, and said he thought it was “fantastic”. So – with that vote of confidence I got my shoes on, and out the door for a bracing jog up the road and back.

And wonder of wonders, my dear friend had a cup of tea ready for me on my return. You can’t get much better than that!

Day 18 – Week 3 – 3 mins

Aha! We are back online – so please forgive this flurry of activity as you receive four posts at once.

This is the morning after the wedding, and I am feeling a little delicate. We are staying in a stunning hotel with rooms overlooking a lake. I almost wished I was up to 20 minutes so I could have gone for a gentle jog around the area – but the drizzling rain and the slight headache may have been a bit of a hindrance.

I did manage three minutes with the resistance strap, albeit a little half-heartedly. But I figure I probably made up for it with the several hours of energetic movement on the dance floor the night before – I am definitely feeling THAT in my legs this morning. Amazing what doing ‘The Twist” can do for your thighs. I don’t recommend head-banging to Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody though, unless you’ve had some serious training – it uses muscles in your neck and shoulders you forgot you ever had!

We are going to take the scenic route back to the house which will mean a two hour drive along the coast – and the sun is breaking through.

So, will be back out of range again for another couple of days….see you on the other side…

Day 17 – Week 3 – 3 mins

A lovely morning again, which meant I could once again go outside for my three minutes of jigging about in the garden. I have been so lucky with the weather so far, as we are often getting rain during the day, but the morning seems fine.

Today we are heading off to a lovely hotel an hour and a half away, where the wedding we are going to is to be held. Am hoping for some internet access so I can post these updates! You have been very patient.
