Day 70 – Week 10 – 10 mins

I know this is ridiculous – but I think I may have spent a good hour or two arguing with myself about whether or not to get up and do my run this morning. I mean, it’s Sunday morning, I think I woke up the first time at about 5.30 and there’s no way I was getting up at 5.30 on a Sunday morning, so I turned over and went back to sleep. And then after that I kept waking up, going back to sleep, waking up again – trying to decide whether to get up and go for a run, OR have a cup of tea, read the paper, THEN go for a run.

I also knew there was a possibility that we’d have pancakes for breakfast, and what I DIDN’T want to happen is to have my fella get up and start making pancakes while I was still in a state of indecision – because I’m afraid the pancakes would have won hands down. My goodness! The dilemmas that face a woman when she wakes up on a Sunday morning!!

In the end, good sense won out, and I dragged myself out of bed despite the heavy weight of resistance and got out there and did it. Phew! That was a close one.

P.S. The pancakes were great.

Day 69 – Week 10 – 10 mins

Ok – does anyone else find that their knees make a terrible creaking noise when they bend them? My strength workout includes a fair bit of bending, and I don’t know if it is just because it is early in the morning, but my goodness it, sounds like crunching metal for almost each and every bend, plie and squat. I don’t usually listen to music during my strength workout, but maybe I should, just so I stop worrying about the noise that is going on below me. I start all that creaking, and I start worrying about what happens when I REALLY begin to get old. I mean – is that what happens? Do you walk around in a permanent state of rusty metal impersonation? My only hope is that by doing this exercise now, I’m stemming the decline….

Eight minutes of strength work and two minutes of stretching.

Day 68 – Week 10 – 10 mins

Well, I’ve made it to Friday in one piece, which is always something to be celebrated – and got myself  up to do my eight minutes on the bosu, and two minutes stretching, complete with heart rate monitor.

According to the stats, I burnt 92 calories,  which probably equate to about a fifth of the curry I had for dinner tonight. Mmmm. A little way to go yet then. Still, that’s 92 calories that are not sitting on my hips, that would have been without the morning’s exertions. I tell you – at this stage – you’ve got to celebrate whatever wins you can, no matter how small!

Day 67 – Week 10 – 10 mins

Eight minutes strength work and two minutes stretching in the can for today, despite a latish start to the morning by my usual standards.

I would really love to start seeing some improvements to give me some encouragement – but given the rubbish I seem to be eating, and my couple of glasses of wine a night , I think I will be having to do a lot more before there’s much difference.  My weight is pretty much the same as when I started – but I’m considering that a good sign at this stage. I’m fairly sure I would be gaining weight if I wasn’t jigging about even this small amount every day.

Bosu tomorrow…

Day 66 – Week 10 – 10 mins

Oh yes – much better this morning. Stuck the heart rate monitor on and ventured outside in the fresh morning air.

Once small disappointment though. As I had an extra minute this time, it meant I actually jogged as far as the gardens where I intend to do the majority of my running – and planned to venture just inside it, before I’d have to turn around and go home. But when I got there, the gates were shut and there was a sign saying major improvement works were taking place. I’m devastated. How long is it shut for? Is it just that someone forgot to open the gate this morning – or is this going to be a summer-long banishment? Going for an extended jog in the morning is not going to be anything like the joy it could be, if I have to stick to the road instead of jogging amongst the trees and laneways of the park.

Worked up a little sweat with my eight minutes, did two mins of stretching – and that is another day sorted.
