Day 223 – Week 32 – 32 mins
I tried to take my own advice today and concentrate properly on investing the time and focus into my exercise.
Normally I am listening to podcasts while I am exercising, trying to ‘use the time wisely’ by learning something as I do it – but today, I put on some very calming music and worked my way slowly and steadily through my strengthening and stretching.
I didn’t want to be there. I wanted to be back on my computer where I have been working on building a new website every spare minute of the day. To tear myself away to exercise was tough, but putting on the right music, and breathing deeply really helped.
And goodness I needed it. I think I have spent about 20 hours on the laptop this weekend, and there’s no way THAT is good for your body.

Day 214 – Week 31 – 31 mins
Actually enjoyed working slowly and steadily through my full 31 minutes of stretching and strengthening today.
Some things are getting much easier – like the crunches, and toe-touching. Others are still pretty tough, like my mini-planks. I can still only do about 35 seconds for each one, but I guess at some stage it will improve.
My routine is starting to include a bit of light weights work, with a couple of small dumbbells I had lying around. And I’m pleased to see a bit more muscle definition in my arms – though thankfully, Arnie Schwarzenegger I am not!

Day 212 – Week 31 – 31 mins
Well at least I managed a full 31 minutes today – though now that there are 31 exercises to remember, I often have a bit of a blank about what to do next. There I am, moving along at a nice steady pace through the various exercises, when I realise I have eight minutes left on the timer, but can only think of three exercises left to do!
Then I have to stop the timer before I panic, and go through it all again in my head and try and remember what it is I have forgotten. If that fails, it means pulling out this ‘exercise at home’ book I use for inspiration.
Then, with a bit of luck, I see the ones I have forgotten, curse my memory, wonder how on earth I could forget The Plank, set the timer going again and then finish it off.
No one said I’d have to exercise my memory as well as my body as part of this experiment.

Day 204 – Week 30 – 30 mins
I really feel like I’m getting into the groove this week, helped out by excellently planned weather. Yesterday, the day I needed to go for a run, there were clear skies. This morning, when I was stretching and strengthening, the weather was rubbish. Tomorrow, we are expecting clear skies again – and so on, throughout the week.
Now, I don’t like to suggest that the goddesses are focusing on my especially – but someone is on my side this week!
The plank is not getting any easier yet…

Day 198 – Week 29 – 29 mins
You know what? The Plank is really hard. Even the mini-plank that I am doing just about kills me. I think it is my nemesis.
So – that is one more challenge I will try and achieve in this lengthy experiment – by the end of my 365 days I want to have defeated the Plank, along with being able to do the splits and touch my toes!
I am not actually very confident about the splits thing. Despite daily stretching, I am not making a great deal of progress. A little – but not enough to see me making the cheerleading team anytime soon.
Still….a girl can dream…
