Day 210 – Week 31 – 31 mins
I did my full 31 minutes this morning – but boy it was tough. From the very first lift of the medicine ball above my head, it was hard work. It was if my muscles were united in opposition to the cause! It was as if I was asking my body to do something it had never done before.
But – I persevered – in a somewhat lacklustre way and got the job done. Not sure how much good it did me, but can only hope things will get better. This happens every now and again, I just go all weak and delicate.
Can’t explain it….

Day 200 – Week 29 – 29 mins (5)
It was a bit of a non event for day 200 I am afraid. I had to be out of the house at 6.00am, so it was a cursory five minutes with the medicine ball and the resistance band, and that was it. I mean, we have to be realistic here. I am not going to be getting up at 4.30am just to prove I can do this!

Day 130 – Week 19 – 19 mins
This morning, as I looked at my usual supplies for my five minute warm up before going into my strength training – I just felt bored. Laid out were my little medicine ball and resistance strap, and I had no inclination to pick them up at all – I’ve been doing the same warm up for over four months now!
I had just put on Goldfrapp’s Seventh Tree album – and before I knew it, I had got carried away and started doing a little dance around the living room. And then I thought – why not? I can make this my warm up instead. I was overwhelmed by the spirit of my youthful ballet training and proceeded to plie, pirouette and prance myself into a very warmed up state. And the music was just perfect for it.
After five minutes of “free interpretation” as I think it was called in my childhood dance classes, I was well and truly ready to get on with my lunges and the rest of my strength training.
Remember – we have to make this as fun as possible – and you know what? Prancing about counts if it gets your heart rate up and the blood flowing around your body. Why not give it a try?
Day 22 – Week 4 – 4 mins
Spent four minutes with the mini medicine ball and the resistance strap this morning, and really felt it in my arms. Just four minutes, but there was a bit of burning in the biceps! And tonight, I can actually feel a little bit of muscle there – that is encouraging.
I’m actually starting to enjoy this!
Each time I add a minute to the routine, I get to decide how I’m going to spend that minute. For inspiration, I have a look around on the internet, on YouTube, and even into some old exercise books I have. That is also part of this system I enjoy. There is no need to try and learn a whole routine at once, you just add one cardio move and one strength move each week, and then it becomes easy to remember.
To be honest – at the moment, all we are doing is adding warm up exercises, as really that is what we are doing. So – nothing too ambitious. Then we’ll add a few minutes of cool down exercises – and THEN, we will start adding the stuff in between that really makes a difference.
Roll on beautiful bodies!!

Day 10 – Week 2 – 2 mins
This morning, I woke up at five o’clock. All by myself. No alarm clock. What does this mean? Does it mean that my body is actually looking forward to getting up and jigging about for a bit in the mornings? Or is that the birds have been getting progressively louder as the days get longer, and I can no longer sleep through the noise?
The latter is probably more likely – but whatever it was, I was wide awake at five, and thought I might as well get up. A whole hour earlier than planned. Now, I’d like to say that waking up feeling like that is a result of the tiny amount of exercise I’m doing, but to be honest I really don’t think it could be having quite that much of an effect as yet.
What I have noticed though, is that the routine of getting up and dealing with my ONE BIG GOAL first thing in the morning, and getting it out of the way, is somehow making the rest of my day more organised. I can’t really explain it – but I’m finding I’m actually doing other stuff that needs doing. I’m sweeping the floors every morning, I’m writing in my journal, I’m doing a bit of Spanish before going to bed. I do feel as if doing my ‘minutes’ is setting me up for the day, and it is a good feeling. Long may it last!
This morning – two minutes with the medicine ball, and still weigh 146 pounds (66kgs).
