Day 209 – Week 30 – 30 mins
It was looking pretty wintery when I went out for my jog this morning, and there was a bit of slipping and sliding going on, as I made my way through the mud which forms some of the more well-used paths in my park. Much more of that ahead I suspect!
But all went well – my legs are starting to feel pretty strong – and that was another 300ish calories burned for the week. It’s so fortunate I can make up any loss of calories with substantial red wine intake over the following hours. Can’t be leaving myself short….

Day 185 – Week 27 – 27 mins
Oh, I did not feel like going for a run this morning. No particular reason – I was just very comfortably working away on my laptop in bed, and could quite happily have stayed there all day. My defence for this attitude is that Winston Churchill used to work a lot from bed, and he did all right for himself!
But eventually, I couldn’t fight the guilt any longer, and I got myself up and dressed. Of course, the run itself wasn’t that bad once I was out there, in fact it was quite pleasant.
And it is a good thing I went. The next three days are going to be hellish, with very long days at work and no opportunity to go out for a run at lunch time. I will be leaving the house at 6.30 every morning, so I suspect I will only manage around ten minutes of jigging about each day before I go.
So be warned – there’ll be no activity records broken here over the next few days!!

Day 181 – Week 26 – 26 mins
Oh – very virtuous this morning. Got out for a run at around half past eight, despite it being a Sunday morning. Then crawled back into bed with my cup of tea after a shower. What heaven that is.
It was a beautiful, fresh morning after some overnight rain – with just me and the dogwalkers in the park. Delightful.
Have now completed one week of my 30-day alcohol free spree. It hasn’t been too bad really – though we are flying through the Ribena – it does a very good job as a red wine substitute when you put it in the right glass.
Though I have work drinks tomorrow night. I’m not sure they serve Ribena at the pub….

Day 179 – Week 26 – 26 mins
What a joy it was this morning not to have to get myself out of bed at 5.30 – especially as I hadn’t got home from work until after midnight.
Instead – around mid-morning I went for a lovely jog in the park.
I love my park. It is actually the grounds of an historic house – and my favourite thing about it is the people who come and walk their dogs every day.
They are an eccentric lot. It was a pretty chilly day today, but that didn’t stop little clumps of dog walkers, sitting and drinking tea at cast iron tables and chairs half way out on the cricket pitch. The tea is served from a caravan parked on the side, and the dog walkers are there every day, regardless of the weather. They drink tea, while the dogs entertain themselves running around the pitch.
If it is raining, the walkers move into a fairly substantial tent, which appears to be there just for that purpose.
It’s very British. I love it, the dogs seem to be having a good time, and it is a sight I enjoy every time I jog past….

Day 173 – Week 25 – 25 mins
Today, I had to drag myself out of my dressing gown and get out for a run – oh, I don’t know – at about 3.00 o’clock in the afternoon. This, as you might have guessed, is meant to be a relaxing holiday, and getting dressed is to be avoided as much as possible.
But I did it – and went for a run in the howling wind, along the nearby country roads. It was fine, but I was grateful to get back inside to our little hideaway cottage, have a shower, and back into the dressing gown and ugg boots. That for me, is what holidays are all about.
