Day 117 – Week 17 – 17 mins
As there was no chance of an early morning jog after my over indulgent day/evening yesterday – I went for the old ‘I’ll go for a run at work’ trick today.
Trouble was – when it came to lunch time, when I should have gone for a jog, I was starving – and given the choice of run or food – the food won. This was no doubt also due to my over indulgence yesterday. I am always ravenous if I have had too much to drink the day before!.
Of course – then I had to let the food digest – so all in all – it was 4.30pm before I could get out there. Tragically – that meant missing half an hour or so of a very exciting cricket match on the telly – but, the deed was done.
Though – given there were so many people around, and that I had no desire to risk any colleagues seeing me trying to touch my toes – I did resort to doing my stretching in the shower cubicle after the run. This ‘by hook or by crook’ exercise routine certainly encourages a creative approach, I have to say.

Day 116 – Week 17 – 17 mins
Morning run done – a little later than usual, but still before going out for lunch.
Very long lunch – lots of wine.
Home quite late (after lunch) about 9pm. As I said – it was a very long lunch.
Can’t tell you how grateful I am, that I stuck to the rules instead of going for a run sometime this afternoon….obviously, it would never have happened!

Day 112 – Week 16 – 16 mins
Ah – back to reality.
We flew in to London to be greeted by rain and a ’short-staffing’ of baggage handlers, which meant a more than two hour wait for our luggage. And I think we were the lucky ones, there were several planes which came in after us who would have had a much longer wait. Welcome to the UK!
Did my usual strength and stretching routine this morning, and it was quite comforting to have all my usual bits and bobs at my disposal – resistance strap, medicine ball etc. Really felt it though, given I have had a week off from these particular exercises.
And then I set to the unpacking, washing and cleaning that needs to be done before my next lot of visitors arrive this afternoon for a week….at least this time we don’t have to sleep in the cellar!

Day 111 – Week 16 – 16 mins
Last day in the pool today – and as we are flying out mid-afternoon, I had to get in there first thing in the morning, before it got too hot.
Fortunately – it was also before all the kids got in the pool, and I had it to myself. Bliss. Found my rhythm and thoroughly enjoyed my final swim. I’m going to miss it when I’m home. Then it will be back to the usual routine….

Day 107 – Week 16 – 16 mins (3)
Not a particularly successful day I am afraid.
Today, we had a pile of things to do before getting in the car and driving to my cousin’s house some miles away, for a big family gathering and a 50th birthday. In the hurry to get out of the house, I didn’t think to do any minutes, and of course once arrived at the other end, I was immediately given a big glass of Sangria and all thoughts of exercise disappeared.
And it was about 45 degrees, which in my book means all normal activity should cease by decree of the government, and only lazing about in cold water or aircon should be allowed.
But all was not lost. Late in the afternoon it was decided that all at the party should take part in some swimming races, in the pool in my cousin’s backyard. It is not the biggest of pools, so I am calculating that the two races I took part in probably added up to about three minutes of very intense, heart-rate raising activity – but that is enough to put a score on the board for the day. Phew.
