Day 248 – Week 36 – 36 mins (20)

I am really struggling with the ‘getting up and exercising before doing anything else’ part of this experiment at the moment. I don’t know if it’s the cold, or the fact it’s the end of the year, or if I’ve just lost my motivation.

But this morning I made myself do it. I didn’t do my full 36 minutes, but I did 20, which wasn’t too bad. But the good thing was, I did it first thing on waking up. And when I got back in bed with my cup of tea after a shower, I remembered how good it felt to get some exercise out of the way early.

The fact that I’m finding it so difficult though, gives me new respect for those people who do this every day for years, in the pursuit of some sporting goal or another. When you think of swimmers who are in the pool at 5.00 every morning for an hour or two every day during their teenage years, or athletics hopefuls who train every day. It is a huge thing to motivate yourself to do it, and I  would so love to have their fierce determination.

All I have to do it get up and get moving, it can’t be so hard….

Day 237 – Week 34 – 34 mins

I snuck out in between the rain clouds for a run in the park this morning. It was good to get outside, but even better to crawl back into bed after a shower and a cup of tea. There’s no way I can get up early on a Sunday and stay up!

So – adding up the minutes for this week, I come to 182 minutes, an average of 26 minutes per day. I don’t think that’s too bad at all! I beat last week’s total by 37 minutes. In fact, that is a bit TOO good for my liking. Very unlikely to do that well next week – given there’s a few Christmas parties to attend…

We shall see!

Day 235 – Week 34 – 34 mins

Aha! Today, I woke up, and it was not raining. There was not a cloud in the sky – it was beautiful, crisp and clear. A perfect day for a run!

But wouldn’t you know it – it was also the day after the night before. A late night at the pub and a few gin and tonics.

The ONLY thing that got me up and out of bed for that run was knowing how rare these crisp lovely mornings are at the moment.

So, while it was hard work, I did my full 34 minutes and was damn proud of myself afterwards!

Day 232 – Week 34 – 34 mins (1)

Aaagh! How frustrating!

I had such great plans this morning.  T’internet told me the skies would be clear, though cold. Cold! I’m fearless in the cold, I said. I’ll take on that cold and go for a run – just as soon as it gets light, I said.

And so I waited for it to get light, pottering about on the laptop…waiting, waiting. And just as it was light enough to consider going outside, there was a text on my phone. I needed to get into work as soon as possible. No time for jogging, just getting in the shower and on that train to the other side of the city quicksticks!

I couldn’t believe it! The one fine day of the week!

So instead, I came home late, with a headache and grumpy, and did one minute. Pathetic I know – but I REALLLLY don’t like it when my plans are foiled like that…

Day 227 – Week 33 – 33 mins

It was a clear day this morning, so I thought I’d best take advantage of it, even though it means I will have been for a jog two days in a row.

I’m not sure I’ve actually used “have been for a jog two days in a row” in a sentence before, let alone actually done it!

I know it’s probably not what you are supposed to do – but I knew it could be a week before I get outside again, so I wasn’t going to waste it. It was a beautiful crisp winter morning and it was terrific to be out in it.

33 minutes done and dusted for today – yay!
