Day 137 – Week 20 – 20 mins (15)

Ah France. Sunshine, almost traffic-free roads, picturesque villages – and cheese. So much cheese to eat! There is no doubt that whatever exercise I get done while I spend these few days in France, there is no way it will counteract the effects of the amount of cheese I am likely to eat while I am here. There is an OBLIGATION to eat cheese while in France I feel….

So after our very early start, and our 6.15am boarding of our flight, we then sat on the tarmac for over an hour while a computer on the plane was replaced. But other than that – an incident free flight and then an hour’s drive…and we were at our destination.

After a grand lunch of, you guessed it, bread and cheese, I then collapsed on the bed for a much needed siesta. Only after that did I manage to get the resistance strap out and do some strength minutes. I got through about 15 minutes before the call of the swimming pool became too much, and I headed outside. So – not a full 20 minutes today, but not a bad effort I think….

Day 128 – Week 19 – 19 mins

As I had to be out of the house before 6.00am this morning, as you can imagineĀ  – getting in some exercise beforehand was not really on the cards! And as it is a strength day, that’s not something I could do in the office at lunch time – so it had to be done when I got home from work at about 7.00 instead.

I came home, dumped my bag, gave the boyfriend a kiss and then lay on the bed thinking about getting out of my work clothes and into the exercise gear. Boyfriend got himself a beer and I refused a drink. And I lay there for a bit longer. And eevvveeentuuualllyyyyy I managed to get myself up, put some music on and do my strength exercises. Man – it’s hard work getting yourself motivated at that end of the day. Of course – it really isn’t that bad once you get started, and it did only take up 19 minutes of my evening – but still, that’s 19 minutes when I could have been drinking a glass of wine.

I am definitely a morning person.

Day 125 – Week 18 – 18 mins

I won the battle this morning.

And it was a battle. Lying in bed – boyfriend had the kettle on. I was hugely tempted to have a cup of tea, then breakfast, then worry about the exercise later.

But I didn’t. I couldn’t help thinking how good it would feel to be able to get back into bed after my 18 minutes and a shower and REALLY enjoy a cup of tea knowing that the minutes were out of the way.

And I’m so glad that’s what I did. 18 minutes of pain, for another 24 hours of feeling virtuous.

And you know – it’s actually not that bad once you get started.

Day 119 – Week 17 – 17 mins (1)

There was a lot going on in my life this morning.

We have just said goodbye to one set of visitors, but last night the news was that we’d be having another lot arriving unexpectedly today – and I had a full day of work ahead of me.

There was nothing for it. An early start – spare sheets in the wash, and some attempt to get the house in order before they arrived, and I had to set off across London to the office on a Sunday with engineering works across the London transport system.

Something had to be sacrificed, and it was 16 of my 17 minutes. I did one minute of strength training to get a score on the board, but that was it. I had to remind myself, that this is still considered a success!

With a bit of luck things return to normal tomorrow, and I have a couple of days off work to get my life into order.

Day 116 – Week 17 – 17 mins

Morning run done – a little later than usual, but still before going out for lunch.

Very long lunch – lots of wine.

Home quite late (after lunch) about 9pm. As I said – it was a very long lunch.

Can’t tell you how grateful I am, that I stuck to the rules instead of going for a run sometime this afternoon….obviously, it would never have happened!
