Day 182 – Week 27 – 27 mins (5)
It was never going to happen today. I had to be out the house at 6.00am, and go out straight after work, getting home around 11.30pm.
So – just a brief five minutes of stretching/strengthening in the morning, after tumbling out of bed at 5.00am.
I went through a speeded up version of my usual routine – doing 10-15 seconds of the things I usually do for one minute. It was quite fun really – and I figure it reminds the muscles I’m there…

Day 181 – Week 26 – 26 mins
Oh – very virtuous this morning. Got out for a run at around half past eight, despite it being a Sunday morning. Then crawled back into bed with my cup of tea after a shower. What heaven that is.
It was a beautiful, fresh morning after some overnight rain – with just me and the dogwalkers in the park. Delightful.
Have now completed one week of my 30-day alcohol free spree. It hasn’t been too bad really – though we are flying through the Ribena – it does a very good job as a red wine substitute when you put it in the right glass.
Though I have work drinks tomorrow night. I’m not sure they serve Ribena at the pub….

Day 180 – Week 26 – 26 mins
I had to go out fairly early this morning, so I figured I’d do my exercise when I got home in the afternoon.
I was back in the house about 2.00pm, and was desperate for something to eat, so made myself some lunch. Then, I settled down with my laptop to do some work and wait for my food to digest.
At about half past seven, I realised it was time to start cooking dinner and was about to get up and get started…when I remembered….I HAD NOT DONE MY EXERCISE. This is what went through my head:
1) Oh no – I haven’t done my exercise
2) Oh well – it’s too late now – it’s dinner time
3) Wait! I’m not allowed to just say ‘it’s too late now’. I have to do it every day. I have to blog!
4) Maybe I can just pretend I didn’t remember
5) But then I would have to say on the blog I didn’t do it. And it would bugger up my perfect record.
6) But it’s TOO LATE to exercise
7) Well – you should have remembered earlier. How could you have forgotten?
Because I usually do it in the morning, and so I just don’t think about it in the afternoon.
9) Well then, you better get that exercise gear on.
10) Do I really have to?
11) Yes. Remember it’s the one thing you have to do every single day.
So I did. But did you see how crafty that brain is? For a moment there, I almost convinced myself to pretend I hadn’t remembered. If it wasn’t for you lot watching, I would have got away with it.

Day 179 – Week 26 – 26 mins
What a joy it was this morning not to have to get myself out of bed at 5.30 – especially as I hadn’t got home from work until after midnight.
Instead – around mid-morning I went for a lovely jog in the park.
I love my park. It is actually the grounds of an historic house – and my favourite thing about it is the people who come and walk their dogs every day.
They are an eccentric lot. It was a pretty chilly day today, but that didn’t stop little clumps of dog walkers, sitting and drinking tea at cast iron tables and chairs half way out on the cricket pitch. The tea is served from a caravan parked on the side, and the dog walkers are there every day, regardless of the weather. They drink tea, while the dogs entertain themselves running around the pitch.
If it is raining, the walkers move into a fairly substantial tent, which appears to be there just for that purpose.
It’s very British. I love it, the dogs seem to be having a good time, and it is a sight I enjoy every time I jog past….

Day 178 – Week 26 – 26 mins
Another half past five morning this morning. I can’t tell you how much I am looking forward to that day off tomorrow.
But, did the deed, stretched and strengthened, one more day off the list. I’m seeing that half way point approaching, and would really like to have something to show for it!
And it’s day 5 of the alcohol-free spree. So far so good, but the weekend is on its way…..
