Day 246 – Week 36 – 36 mins (1)

OK -  I blame it on the snow! Why note? Everyone else in England does. Because of the snow the trains don’t run, the roads don’t function, the internet doesn’t work….

All right. It didn’t actually snow this morning until about 1100 am, but the threat of snow was certainly enough to stop me going out for a run this morning, believe me! The threat of snow was even enough to stop me getting out of bed…

Hence, only time for one minute on the bosu.

I am going to have to have a strict talking to myself  before tomorrow morning I feel…

Day 241 – Week 35 – 35 mins (1)

Ok – it’s the morning after the corporate Christmas party – 3,500 people in a huge marquee, unlimited food and alcohol, music, dancing…..and then the usual trek across London to get home sometime before dawn.

Enough said.

A pathetic one minute on the bosu.

Day 224 – Week 33 – 33 mins (2)

I hardly got off the ground today.

I blame it on two things:

1) The weather. It is always raining at the time I want to exercise – and I desperately want to run around outside.

2) The loss of the BBC from my bedside radio. I don’t know what’s happened (maybe it’s the rain!) but this morning the BBC just wasn’t there – instead there were all these people racing rather than speaking, trying to be funny and speaking in highly judgemental tones. Where was my lovely BBC World?

So with the boyfriend away, and me not knowing anything about these fancy DAB radios (I’m still looking for the AM/FM switch, and I don’t think they have one!)  I am stuck with ‘Listen How Loud I Can Shout Radio FM’ or whatever it is I am tuned into ….

AND I AM LOST!

Normally, I know exactly what time it is at any point, because I know BBC World’s morning schedule like the back of my hand. But now – well – it’s a disaster. I lose track of time, and all of a sudden it’s time to go to work and I have barely two minutes to jump on the bosu before I must be on my way….

That’s my excuse, and I’m sticking to it!

Day 221 – Week 32 – 32 mins (1)

I’m going to pretend today didn’t happen.

I am going to bed and am going to have today again, tomorrow – and this time, I’m going to jig about for a full 32 minutes!

Day 220 – Week 32 – 32 mins

I am very proud of myself for doing my full 32 minutes today. It seems harder and harder to achieve my full quota lately, so I am celebrating whenever I manage it.

They key to success? Letting your mind let go of all the other million and one things you need to do, breathing deeply and giving yourself that time to concentrate on your health and fitness.

Oh – I know it’s hard – as you exercise away in your living room, thinking you should be in the shower already, because you could do with being at work a little earlier today, and then you notice a big smear on a photo frame on your mantlepiece and you think how much you’d like to clean it off, and then that reminds you that you need to buy a new photo frame because you have that photo of your niece and nephew that is still sitting on the shelf frameless, and then you remind yourself you have to take some fish out of the freezer for dinner when you next go into the kitchen, and in fact you really should write a shopping list as there’s a few things you need on the way home, and you musn’t forget that letter you need to post on your way to the train station this morning, and the DVDs that have to be taken to the video shop….

Sound familiar? No wonder you are tempted to cut your exercise short and get on with some of those jobs spinning around in your brain…

But don’t….

Be still….

And give yourself a 32 minute investment in your health. Remember what we said at the beginning of all this? For this year – doing this exercise is the only thing you absolutely MUST do each day….

Breath deeply and cocoon yourself from everything else that is demanding your attention….
