Day 345 – Week 50 – 50 mins (30ish)

Ok – the idea of 50 minutes of exercise is truly frightening, and I’m not sure I will actually get there.

And I have to admit that today was a bit of a hodge-podge of physical exertion which included, a brisk walk to the hardware shop, a decent amount of gardening and a bit of dancing around the kitchen.

I figure that comes to about 30 minutes of strenuousness, but I could be wrong. But hey – it is a holiday here today, and I COULD have spent it sitting on the couch….

Day 344 – Week 49 – 49 mins (40)

Took it nice and slowly and worked my way through 40 minutes of stretching and strengthening – ah the joys of a bank holiday weekend when you feel as if you actually have time to fit everything in!

Day 343 – Week 49 – 49 mins (30)

I’ve decided Saturday’s are the hardest to get out of bed and go for a run.

You see, I have this lovely Saturday thing…

I get the newspaper delivered, which means I wake up, make a cup of tea and lie in bed for hours devouring the Saturday Guardian. It is the only newspaper of the week that I really read properly.

Now – what is the point of getting the newspaper delivered if you are going to get yourself out of bed and go for a run first thing in the morning? If you do that, you might as well pick up the newspaper at the shop while you are out? Do you see my logic? If you are going to get the newspaper delivered, then you are duly bound to slob about in your dressing gown for most of the day, absent-mindedly eating a bit of toast and sipping your tea as you absorb yourself in the news of the world.

If you are lucky, you get yourself out for a run sometime around mid-afternoon. Which, fortunately I did today, because that was pretty special too. The cherry-blossoms are shedding their petals, and it was like running through pink snow, with petals landing on me as I went. The timing was perfect. It is the Czech version of Valentine’s Day today, when lovers are supposed to kiss under the cherry-blossom trees….

Now…where is that lover when I need him?

Day 342 – Week 49 – 49 mins (35)

I am slowly inching up the minute count…but seriously, with only around 23 days to go, I’m not really managing what I set out to do.

Did I ever really think I could exercise for a whole 52  minutes straight, consistently? You see – when I set that target I was counting on some kind of magical exercise addiction to happen…but sadly this is not the case.

Each and every day I’d do anything to get out of it…

But am carrying on, in my own fumbling style…

35 minutes of stretching and strengthening today.

Day 341 – Week 49 – 49 mins (30)

I am slowly inching my minutes up there…though still quite a way off what I should be.

But I don’t mind. I was always going to give forgive myself if I didn’t make the numbers, as long as I was exercising consistently, and I think I haven’t done a bad job at that.

My new technique continued to work today. I was able to get myself out of bed with my alarm and managed to do some journal writing, go for my run, have a shower and make a cup of tea all in time to sit down for a Skype meeting I had booked at 7.30am. And boy, does that feel good….You almost feel like you deserve to have the rest of the day off after that!
