Day 160 – Week 23 – 23 mins

Ah ’tis lovely to be back home. Don’t get me wrong, it’s fantastic to go away, but I do love walking back in the door to my lovely flat.

And doing the exercise thing is so much easier, with all the right tools available and a proper rug on the floor. Did my first full and proper stretching and strengthing session for what feels like ages.

Day 159 – Week 23 – 23 mins (15)

My last morning in Berlin, and impossible to go for a jog round the park – as a fully swinging fruit and veg market emerged overnight.

Instead, I managed a good 15 minutes of fast walking, maybe more, as I suddenly remembered I had to try and get a packet of a particular kind of  German sweets for a work colleague before going home. I didn’t have that long before I needed to head to the airport, so I was walking at a cracking pace as I tried three different supermarkets in the area.

Unfortunately, the mission was unsuccessful. When the third shop didn’t have them, I had to give up and get ready to go. But I certainly managed to get my heart rate up as a result.

Back home now, and looking forward to getting back into the usual routine.

Day 158 – Week 23 – 23 mins (10)

OK -did slightly better on the strength and stretching today – managing ten minutes. But still really feeling quite weak and lethargic when I’m doing it, and thus throwing in the towel before the end.

I seriously think it must be the bizarre diet I seem to be living off since I’ve been here – not having my usual smoothies, salad and veg etc. Either that – or just having to try and make myself be understood in a country where I don’t speak the language must be taking it out of me.

But last day tomorrow, then back home and back into the swing of it…

Day 157 – Week 23 – 23 mins

I was a little later getting out to my little park this morning – it was about half past seven before I trundled down the stairs and out onto the street.

It appears that is the time that all sorts of action starts in my neck of the woods. Not only did I have the odd left-over drinker from the night before sitting on a park bench, I also had a whole team of park cleaneruppers  and a couple of people reading their morning newspapers.  You need to understand – this park is not big – and while a few people floating around in a normal sized park would hardly be noticeable, here, it feels like someone you don’t know is sitting in your living room.

Nevertheless, I gave them all a smile as I jogged past, and carried on. Of course, the great joy of not speaking the language is that if they did mutter anything uncomplimentary under their breath, then I wouldn’t have understood it anyway.

Day 156 – Week 23 – 23 mins (5)

Not a good effort this morning. I only managed five minutes of strength and stretching before I just didn´t have the energy for it. I´m not really sure why…

I tried to make up for it with a good round of sight-seeing this morning before a late start at work.
