Day 104 – Week 15 – 15 mins
Up nice and early this morning, before heading off to the airport for a week in Spain. I am, of course, not packed and so have a mountain of things to do before setting off
at about 10.00am. So, got through my strength routine as painlessly as possible, and then got on with the far more serious job of trying to fit a week’s worth of clothes and books into the 15kg luggage allowance allowed by the very annoying cheap airlines we are forced to fly. Now, that gets your heart rate up, believe me….

Day 103 – Week 15 – 15 mins
Really had to drag myself out of bed this morning. I obviously really need this holiday that starts tomorrow.
Got myself onto the bosu, despite the fact I could hardly keep my eyes open, and did my 15 minutes after much arguing with myself. There are times I truly regret this challenge I have to admit.
But it was done. One more day of fighting my resistance.

Day 102 – Week 15 – 15 mins
Ah – a strength day today. A bit of lying about on the floor and lifting my leg in the air. It’s almost as good as a holiday compared to a cardio day. See how the expectations of my mornings have changed since taking up this challenge!
All fairly routine this morning, though I wasn’t up as early as I would have liked. Seems I am getting into holiday mode already. We’re off to Spain on Saturday for a week, where, apparently it is about 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit) at the moment. This is not as good as it sounds. I’m going to have to get up at something like 4.00 in the morning, if I’m going to get some exercise in before the heat!

Day 101 – Week 15 – 15 mins
Wow – 101 – that seems like a really big number, much bigger than 100 somehow. I can’t really explain that, but it is actually a little overwhelming.
This morning, as I went for my jog in the early morning, I was thinking about how I wasn’t the kind of person who can just randomly increase their activity to get fit. You know – they tell you to do things like, “take the stairs rather than the lift” or “get off the bus one stop early and walk the rest of the way”. And this is true, I could do this. And maybe I would get a little fitter, or lose a little bit of weight – but that is not how I like to do things.
I am the kind of person who needs to measure it somehow, who needs to be able to see some kind of progress. Give me a wall chart and a ruler and let me draw a graph. That’s the kind of person I am. And this is why this gradual accrual of exercise appeals to me so much. I can see progress in what I’m doing. I am completely convinced that if I am doing just a tiny little bit more each week, then I will achieve what I want to achieve. Well – it makes sense doesn’t it?
Apparently, not everyone thinks so. I hear there are people who feel a bit hemmed in by this approach, who prefer to do things as they feel, to follow the muse. I often wish I was that kind of person – but I know myself too well. If I just did what I felt, it wouldn’t be very much at all. The most exercise I would get would be putting down my book and pulling myself up out of my deckchair every couple of hours to make myself a cup of tea.
No – I think I better stick with what I’m doing – at least I get to add another minute to the chart every week and smile with satisfaction at the progress I’m making….

Day 100 – Week 15 – 15 mins
Well, things went slightly better this morning, though I was still a little tentative as I went through my strength routine. But the main thing is – the 15 mins were done – and I can celebrate 100 consecutive days of exercise, something I can quite categorically state I have never before done in my life!
Of course….that was the easy 100 days…the next lot will be a lot tougher. But I am steeling myself for it….
