Day 63 – Week 9 – 9 mins
I decided to push the boat out and really add some excitement to my bosu workout this morning – by wearing a heart rate monitor. Have you ever done that? It’s fun. So now I’m not only obsessed with the numbers on my timer as it is ticking down my minutes, I can also look at the numbers on the heart rate monitor, and it’s all distracting enough to stop me panicking about the fact I’m actually doing exercise!
But seriously – heart rate monitors are great. The long term plan with my cardio workouts is to be doing intervals, which is apparently one of the best ways to burn calories. So to do it properly, you really need to see what your heart rate is doing. And this morning, I actually discovered I was working a little harder than I should have been, so I got to slow it down a bit. No complaints from me!
Afterwards I checked the monitor and discovered I had burnt 76 calories. Not a lot at all – but you have to consider I am only doing 7 minutes of an actual workout (I’m doing 2 minutes of stretching) and 5 of that is a warm up. I like having a number like that to refer to, and I’m going to enjoy watching it go up as I add my one minute a week. It will feel like proper progress.
