Day 13 – Week 2 – 2 mins
Could have done with a sleep in this morning, but managed to drag myself out of bed for my two minutes on the bosu.
Then it was a bit of a mad scramble to get packed and ready for the week in Ireland.
It is exactly this kind of situation where I would have talked myself out of doing my exercise, if I wasn’t doing this experiment. I’d have told myself that I had to get myself organised for going away, and I would just have to leave the exercise for another day.
So am very grateful for this blog for keeping me on the straight and narrow.
Am now in Belfast, sharing a glass of wine with my cousin – guilt free, because I know those minutes are getting done.
We are off to the wilds of the Republic tomorrow, so may disappear off the internet radar for a while. So will post when I can….
Day 12 – Week 2 – 2 mins
Two minutes of arms this morning with the mini medicine ball – and I can’t believe we’re nearly at the end of week 2.
Tomorrow morning we fly to Belfast, and I spend the night at my cousin’s with her two young children. I am trying to imagine what they might think of me when I sneak downstairs and try and do a couple of minutes exercise without anyone noticing.
After that, I’ll be staying in a house in a little Irish village for a week – and I have no idea what kind of internet access might be available. So forgive me if you don’t hear from me for some of that time. I will continue to write each day, but may have to post them all at once in a few days time.
But – am packing my bags, and my timer and exercise clothes will be in there. An Irish wedding is no excuse not to get those minutes done.

Day 11 – Week 2 – 2 mins
Did NOT want to get out of bed this morning. After the early rise yesterday, and a fairly late night because I was still quite fired up, I obviously could have done with more sleep this morning. But it was not to be. Had to be out of the house at 7.00 to get to work.
So this morning, I was grateful that my body seems to now be on auto-pilot in terms of getting myself up, staggering to the bathroom while taking a swig of the water bottle, going to the loo, reaching up to the shelf where I keep my exercise clothes and shoes and putting them on. That’s the hard bit. The two minutes on the bosu were easy after that.
The good news is that I’m now on holiday for a week. We are going to Ireland on Saturday for a week which includes a wedding. Going to be fun doing my minutes in that environment. I may have to be quite creative.
But tomorrow is a glorious day off at home – and the sun is still shining. That’s something to cherish.

Day 10 – Week 2 – 2 mins
This morning, I woke up at five o’clock. All by myself. No alarm clock. What does this mean? Does it mean that my body is actually looking forward to getting up and jigging about for a bit in the mornings? Or is that the birds have been getting progressively louder as the days get longer, and I can no longer sleep through the noise?
The latter is probably more likely – but whatever it was, I was wide awake at five, and thought I might as well get up. A whole hour earlier than planned. Now, I’d like to say that waking up feeling like that is a result of the tiny amount of exercise I’m doing, but to be honest I really don’t think it could be having quite that much of an effect as yet.
What I have noticed though, is that the routine of getting up and dealing with my ONE BIG GOAL first thing in the morning, and getting it out of the way, is somehow making the rest of my day more organised. I can’t really explain it – but I’m finding I’m actually doing other stuff that needs doing. I’m sweeping the floors every morning, I’m writing in my journal, I’m doing a bit of Spanish before going to bed. I do feel as if doing my ‘minutes’ is setting me up for the day, and it is a good feeling. Long may it last!
This morning – two minutes with the medicine ball, and still weigh 146 pounds (66kgs).

Day 9 – Week 2 – 2 mins
Back on the bosu today for two mins. The weather has turned lovely here in London, which means I should be getting outside for my cardio days – but somehow even I feel it is a bit silly to go outside for only two minutes. That would involve having to put my outside shoes on, which is one more excuse I could use to trick myself out of exercise. So I think I will stay inside until I get up to five minutes – and then it will quite the reward for making it that far to get myself out in the fresh air. Of course, being England, I may miss the summer all together if I do that! Our summers have been known to be remarkably brief.
To explain the outside and inside shoes concept….before starting this process I realised my usual trainers were looking decidedly grubby. The park I like to walk in has some pretty muddy bits. So rather than think, “Oh no, I can’t get on the bosu until I’ve cleaned the mud off my trainers” and give myself another excuse not to do it, I just bought a new pair of shoes that are for inside exercise only. Works a treat!
A big welcome to Pat, who is joining me on the journey, I’m hoping she’ll keep us up to date with what she does with her ‘minutes’ from time to time as well…
