Day 18 – Week 3 – 3 mins

Aha! We are back online – so please forgive this flurry of activity as you receive four posts at once.

This is the morning after the wedding, and I am feeling a little delicate. We are staying in a stunning hotel with rooms overlooking a lake. I almost wished I was up to 20 minutes so I could have gone for a gentle jog around the area – but the drizzling rain and the slight headache may have been a bit of a hindrance.

I did manage three minutes with the resistance strap, albeit a little half-heartedly. But I figure I probably made up for it with the several hours of energetic movement on the dance floor the night before – I am definitely feeling THAT in my legs this morning. Amazing what doing ‘The Twist” can do for your thighs. I don’t recommend head-banging to Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody though, unless you’ve had some serious training – it uses muscles in your neck and shoulders you forgot you ever had!

We are going to take the scenic route back to the house which will mean a two hour drive along the coast – and the sun is breaking through.

So, will be back out of range again for another couple of days….see you on the other side…

Day 17 – Week 3 – 3 mins

A lovely morning again, which meant I could once again go outside for my three minutes of jigging about in the garden. I have been so lucky with the weather so far, as we are often getting rain during the day, but the morning seems fine.

Today we are heading off to a lovely hotel an hour and a half away, where the wedding we are going to is to be held. Am hoping for some internet access so I can post these updates! You have been very patient.

Day 16 – Week 3 – 3 mins

A very late night last night, so thankfully managed to sleep until about 8.00am. The house was silent as I found a spot to do my three minutes with the resistance band.

I am utterly amazed that I have managed to keep up with the programme while on holiday like this, because normally this is when it would all go to pot. They do say that being accountable to someone is often the key, and I have no doubt that if I didn’t have you watching me, I may not be quite as vigilant.

So if you are joining me in the quest, then let me know, and we can keep each other on the straight and narrow. I’d love to hear how you are going.

Day 15 – Week 3 – 3 mins

We are staying in a house with a group of friends in a beautiful part of the Republic of Ireland, called Donegal. Stunning rugged coastline, as well as lochs and beaches – outstanding.

Luckily, we have the only room on the ground floor, so it didn’t disturb anyone when I got up this morning and had a little run around the garden for three minutes.

Despite a fairly late night, I woke up at around 6.30am, and for perhaps the first time in living history, I actually wanted to get up and do my exercise. Now, don’t get excited. I don’t think I am actually turning into an exercise-lover, I suspect I was far more motivated by the fact that if I got up, did the minutes, and had a shower – then I could get back in bed and read for the several hours it was likely to take before anyone else started stirring. But hey – whatever works. I did the deed and felt well pleased with myself.

Day 14 – Week 2 – 2 mins

Just enough time to squeeze one more post in before heading off. It is 6.30 in the morning, and I have just got up and done two minutes. I am in a house with a baby and a 3-year old, so as you can imagine this household gets moving fairly early in the day.

As it was I managed to get downstairs and do my minutes without an audience, unless you count the cat, who while initially fascinated wandered off after a minute and a half.

Ideal for travelling are the extremely cheap latex resistance bands you can buy. I have one of those with me and used it to do my two minutes of arms. It is important to get creative with equipment and not get hung up on having all the ‘right’ stuff, or you will use it as another excuse not to exercise. The latex bands are great – but if you don’t have one – I’m sure an old towel would work just as well.

Just do that one minute+ whatever it takes. Tomorrow – moving on to three minutes. Can’t believe we are two weeks into this already.
