Day 35 – Week 5 – 5 mins
Five weeks! That’s five weeks so far of getting myself ready and moving every day. It’s lucky I just happened to have a glass of champagne today – I will consider it a celebration.
I trundled out the bosu this morning, and shared my five minutes on there with Pink. You see how much of a creature of habit I am? I think I have been using Pink to exercise to for almost the entire five weeks – perhaps I should expand my repertoire. Please feel free to offer any other suggestions for good workout music!
About now you may be thinking – hang on – I’ve been doing this for five weeks, and I’m not seeing much of a difference on the scales, and those jeans certainly aren’t getting any looser. I know you are thinking that – because so am I.
But we musn’t despair. Remember this is a gradual, long term solution. Remember how many times you have lost weight in the past, only to put it on again several months later? This is NOT what we are doing. This is about habit, this is about sneaking in to getting fit, this is about something that is going to last the rest of our lives. What we are doing is making a start on getting that blood moving around our bodies, and it may be quite some time before we see the benefits of that. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t happening.
Don’t think you have to finish up stiff, sore and exhausted to be doing yourself any good. Because while that might give you a brief moment of exhilaration, the chances are you are not going to get up and do the same thing tomorrow, and the day after, and the day after. I don’t know about you, but I’m not ready for that. Maybe that will come – but for now, my brain is going to run a mile from the idea of being a quivering wreck each morning. Far better to take it just one minute at a time…..
Suzi

Hi Suzi,
so, I am only on week 2 of my pushups. And although I am only up to 6 now, I have to say that I think it does make a difference. I have been trying to perform them with perfect form, going as low and slow as I can. I don’t think I have ever done a proper pushup in my life before. And even though I struggled with number 6 today, I can tell that I am getting stronger.
So…let’s keep at it. We can only be minutes away from becoming superwomen!
Excellent that you are still on track Mareike.
Interesting what you say about trying to do it with perfect form. I was thinking about that the other day. When you start as small as we have been doing, I think you to tend to think a little bit more about exactly how you do the exercise, and trying to be ‘present’ as you do it, getting it right – rather than rushing through an hour-long workout etc.
